Alright ladies – it may not be designed by Michael Kors, DKNY, or a Mulberry..but what do you put in your Baby Bag?

  1. Wipes – Never, never, never – leave home without plenty of wipes! Forget Diamonds, these really are a girl’s best friend, and you need to be well stocked, so that you are always prepared for the inevitable!
  2. Nappies- This is, of course, the most essential item in the bag, and honestly, you can never have enough. If you think you may need two, then take three or four! Believe me, it’s better to be safe than sorry…
  3. Bibs – One or two of these should be standard items in your bag, as they help to keep the babies’ clothes from getting stained during feeding time.
  4. Changing pad – When you need to change the baby’s nappy, you’re going to want to have something to place underneath the baby to prevent soiling of surfaces. One clean pad is usually sufficient.
  5. Toys – Exactly what kind of toys these might be will depend on the age of the baby, and what are their personal well- loved favourites. Small, colorful toys that will help distract them when they get fractious are probably a sensible choice.
  6. Extra clothes – Take at least one extra outfit of clothes ………, and two outfits if you are going to be away from the house for most of the day. You only need to experience “nappy overload” once to understand!
  7. Formula/Food – Again, depending on the age of the child and the length of time you will be away from the house, you will want to be prepared. Even if you don’t expect to miss feed-time, it’s always sensible to have something with you in case of unexpected delays.
  8. Snacks – For a child who is old enough for finger foods, a stock of non perishable snacks such as Cheerios, or Raisins, or other easy to carry foods, should be regularly replenished in the nanny’s diaper bag.
  9. Baby “1st Aid”– Teething lotion, nappy rash cream, and Vaseline should always be part of your Baby bag’s ‘1st aid for babies’ kit. The baby’s dummy isn’t exactly 1st Aid, but if your child is dependent on it, make sure you always have at least two of them with you. The dummy always seems to be thrown on the ground at one point or other on your trip!
  10. Muslins – We have all lived with the ubiquitous muslins over our shoulders to protect our clothes from drool or even sick, and a few of them should also be included as standard equipment in the nappy bag.
